I’m dreaming of a stinking hot, dry christmas

I've never dreamt of a white christmas. In fact I can't even imagine one. In fact someone here in australia should develop some relevant wrapping paper. You know, the reindeers stopping under a gum tree for a rest, panting in 100 degree heat. Santa in a more summery outfit. Here on christmas day it'll be salads, cold meats, icy drinks and swimming in the pool. This is jingle bells the aussie way.

if you can't read the last stanza it goes

come the afternon, grandpa has a doze, the kids and uncle bruce are swimming in their clothes. The time comes round to go, we take a family snap, then pack the car and all shoot through before the washing up.

I don't know who came up with the words but a class always used to sing it at the school christmas concert.

  1. I have never dreamed about having a white Christmas either. It isn't Summer in Florida, but at least we don't get any snow. I hope you have a wonderful, stinking hot, dry, Australian Christmas.

  2. Now that I am in the States I would love a white Christmas but in 7 years haven't had one yet! It does make a heap more sense to be cooking all the turkey and trimmings etc here than it does in Australia. I have to say though that Americans don't seem to enjoy the plum pudding very much and it is really difficult to find mince pies!

  3. 40 deg C on Chrissy and it's about the same today on our Boxing Day. Hot enough? Even the Ninja dogs are panting and they're not on heat. Ho Ho Ho to everyone!
